If so, tell him thanks for his work on his website. I like the fact he has photos of all the stuff he owns. It's better than looking at the catalog photos.

When you have a project this large, you should get a track and layout designer,it seems he can do so much more with the space, and then hes hiding everything in tunnels?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose george carlin

Eric's layout is really coming along. I love that scene between the 2 tunnel portals where the train pokes out then right back in, then over the bridge.
Sidehatch, often times, incorporating numerous tunnels keeps the operating session interesting for a longer period of time. Seeing the train at all times can become boring. As much space as he has, remember, this is O gauge....real estate shrinks really fast, especially when you are running longer trains and want to incorporate large yards like Eric has. To each his own, but I think the layout is very nice. Welcome to the forum by the way.

Eric's layout consists of the main train room that is shown that has the turn table and yard. It passes through several tunnels and out through a wall into a hallway. It passes through additional tunnels through a wall and into another room. It continues back into the hallway and crosses over a bridge into a third room. The bridge can be lifted to get access into the additional rooms. The train makes a large horseshoe turn back into the second room where it passes back through the wall into the main room again. It will be quite something when finished.

In one of Eric's tour videos he says that he will be putting up a second level over what you are seeing.

Good job Max. We had a great time at Eric's. That is one long and heavy train. Anyone in the Atlanta area or coming to Atlanta over the next month needs to look up the Piedmont Pilgrimage. Here is a link to over 70 open house layouts. http://www.piedmont-div.org/pilgrimage/

Hi sidehatch,
I used software to design the track plan and this plan was the one I ended up liking the most. It may seem like a lot of track is going to be lost in tunnels, but keep in mind that everywhere there's tunnel there's going to be more trains running above those tunnels on top of hills and mountains. So there will be plenty of trains to see when it's all said and done.
