It's tough, but the track will snap in place. I think how I did mine was to have the joint between 2 track in the center of the corral (I use O-27 track). Also had to bend U shape edge of the end ties to get them to fit. You really need to force it to get it to snap in place.

boomercar....it would help if we knew what type of track you are using. Please post and we can go from there.

Also, which cattle corral is it.....post war or the new style?

There were two versions during the Post War Era, the "shorty" version with the all-metal corral, and the longer version with plastic coral that is still made today.

I have the C&NW car and white coral on my layout from the late 90's and it works great with a little shimming and tweaking.

It does not work with a "special" track, just regular O/O-27 and the contactor included.

The 3656 works best with two standard track sections with the joint centered in the middle of the corral. Tip the track down about 30 degrees towards the corral and fit it into the upper of the two "saw teeth" next to the corral. The lower teeth are for 027 track. Then lower down the opposite side and snap into the vertical flange. The corral comes with two blades that fit into the black plastic slot. You use the taller blade for O gauge track.

I had trouble getting the track to seat in mine when I set mine up too but I am using new 027 track. What I did was switch to some old track from the 50's and it snapped right into place, there are slight differences in the track tie design that made the new design track very hard, if not impossible, to fit. I am not sure about the regular O track but if you have some old track laying around try a section of that to see if it works and make sure you are using the correct activation blade too.
