Have you checked the price of layout hook-up wire? 100ft of 16g hook-up wire...$38. I about fell off the chair.

Copper prices are up about a buck over a year ago ($3.00/lb currently). Not sure that has all to do with it, but certainly a contributing factor.

the 250 ft OGR 16 gauge wire is about .26 a foot.

Try these guys. I have found them to be pretty reliable. The offer many colors which helps me out since I color coded my power bus and track connections. An example of the price is slightly less then half. It is stranded. They offer a lot of different wires.
