Copper prices are up about a buck over a year ago ($3.00/lb currently). Not sure that has all to do with it, but certainly a contributing factor.

Try these guys. I have found them to be pretty reliable. The offer many colors which helps me out since I color coded my power bus and track connections. An example of the price is slightly less then half. It is stranded. They offer a lot of different wires.
