Legacy probably can be said to be the next generation of TMCC technology. The hand held now has visual displays similar to DCS. The Legacy system is based on 200 speed steps so in Legacy equipped locos you achieve some real fine control. The system enhances the performance of TMCC locos as well.

Operationally, you can use the screen that is like TMCC or you can use the screen with speed ranges displayed. Momentum can be set on the fly and the speed ranges , adjustable momentum and train brake dfeature can be used together to simulate the operational effect of varying train loads and resistance to give fine speed controll as well as variation in the sounds and smoke output to match. Legacy equipped locos have quillable whistles and single ring bells .

The graphic display shows the speed and train brake settings as well as actual train speed. Locos can be called up by address number , by cab number or by description.

It connects in the same way as TMCC, one wire to the common rail or terminal.

Hope this helps

There's even more information about the pros and cons of Lionels Legacy   on this very forum.......

I suggest you read it, thoroughly.

There are several knowledgable users of this system that can answer almost any question you'll have.
