Great choice. And, in NYC on the first run. How many of us have been asking MTH for a 4 axle U-boat? It has been a long time but they listened. 3RS compliant, with a fixed pilot, scale coupler and low ride. Great job!

Looks great and plan on picking up the NYC version, but I was a little disappointed that they didn't offer the GP7 or 9 with the scale wheels & fixed pilots.

I was looking at the Atlas 2-rail ATSF Trainman model and evaluating the cost/effort involved in making it a Proto 3-2. Looks like the MTH release makes it a wash on price, plus saves me some work. I'm in.

Will MTH's U25B have that much improvement over Weavers? I must say, I'm not impressed with the catalog pictures but as we all know those tend to be one of MTH's weaker sides to marketing. I think MTH missed the boat with that unit. Now if they had made the high hood version with their unique steps and pilots then I'd be excited. Just my Monday morning random thoughts here folks.

Greg,

Probably Light years. Fixed Pilots, scale couplers, full length handrails, PS2, proper separately applied brass details......All the newly tooled MTH hood units have been outstanding, the C40-8, ES44AC, AC4400 etc. No reason to not to think the U25B will not be any different.

And, you really cannot go by those catalog pictures anymore.

Pete,

Weavers had the fixed pilot and scale couplers for 2 rail scale. I'd forgotten about the PS2 but then I'm 2 rail and straight DC. There are still some issues I have with MTH and their 2 rail units but as you say they are light yrs ahead over their old 2 rail units. It will be interesting to see the production model.

Greg,

Forgot about the Weaver 2 rail units, only thinking 3RS, so it will be great for us. I have the 2 rail ones on order. The only thing I have to say is you may not want to wait, as these are really limited, and seems strictly built to order. May not be able to get them when they come out as the 2 Rail ones are gone instantly.
