So, I'm thinking of going with scale couplers. Is this the standard for what everyone in "ORS" is using? Is there a coupler height gauge you can get, like in HO? How many pairs to a pack and how much are they? Just a few questions from someone who might jump on the bandwagon! Al

Yes, the #805, one pair per envelope, is what I and everybody else seems to be using. Go to the Kadee web site, and you should find the coupler height gauge. Mine has no part number on it, just "O, On3".
Many mail-order operations sell the #805 coupler packs around $24 for ten packs; list is around $2.95 to $3.25 per pair/pack. One pack contains one pair complete with metal draft gear box, coupler, and springs, but NO SCREWS, and will do one car. There is also a "plastic" Kadee O scale coupler set (#804 I think) for mounting on the fronts of steam locomotives and/or other pieces of equipment that could have electrical shorting issues through the metal frame. |

If you are mounting Kadees on MTH fixed pilot diesels, use the # 806 short draft gear sets. The # 804s and # 805s will not fit without cutting the draft gear box.

I've been getting my Kadee couplers from Caboose Stop Hobbies, Cedar Falls, Iowa. (319) 277-1764 or 1-800-642-7012
