can you get the new legacy diesel to drop rpm by clicking a notch or two back. On th videos I watch it seems the rpm is always wide open. Also will each click of the throttle produce one rpm change so 8 clicks would be wide open?

Sure can! Hit the speedbar, and use the >, >>, >>> etc buttons to notch 'er up and down. I like to set momentum ~6 on my Conrail U30c (only Legacy engine I have), trainbrake about 3/4 and use the >>>'s to ramp up and down, simulating load changes as my grades vary, or entering or exiting the yard. Hit the smoke on and off as you do it for some really cool effects.
Not really. This is controlled by the momentum and trainbrake settings, or more accurately, the speedstep your engine is at. Set your brake and momentum tight and you'll notch 8 instantly before you move, with a slight twist of the throttle. Just like you are dragging 5000 tons up The Curve to the bores at Gallitzin. Opposite is also true, giving jackrabbit starts to top speed at notch 3. Jim "Corripe Cervisiam" A proud member of the former TMCC Demo Group Ironville, Sporting Valley and Southern RR |

You can also raise and lower rpms while underway in the legacy screen by hitting the raise /lower buttons on the upper right of the remote's keypad.

Jim's description is pretty much the way Legacy RPMs work. They seem to respond dynamically, depending on momentum, train brake, and throttle input. Be sure to watch the middle bar on the CAB2 display, which is segmented for diesels.

You can use the up / down arrows or the throttle itself.
I like to use the throttle. With momentum at 5 or more, it is easy to flick the throttle up or down without changing the speed. A quick turn up or down and then back to to where the throttle was set will change rpms every time. Juat get the throttle back to where it was while the rpm is changing. You will not see a speed change at all. Plus, if you set the Train Brake to stop the train from moving too fast, you can use the throttle to change rpms and LOAD without changing the speed of your train. In a future rev, the laboring will control the smoke as well, emphasizing the effect. Hope this helps! ny |

Cool! I have been using train brake a lot lately to really pump up the RPM effect. Works great. I hope Legacy sound functions can be incorporated in other cars ala the Whale Sound car and cabooses. I'm also looking forward to how this will work in the PWC B units due out later this year. "Then again what do I know?
