Unless I missed it, it hasn't been officially released. Other than Jerry's announcement to register. I'm sure when they are ready to be sent we will se an announcement on Lionel's site.

Marty, when you do update the hand held and base is it all done through the handheld slot or is there a slot in the base for a module too. Haven;t looked under the base so do not know what is under there.

There is a slot on top of the base too. The upgrade should come with good instructions. Just make sure you use the correct module for each.

I would guess that they are beta testing the upgrade. Jon indicated on an earlier post (Barry thread?) that a module upgrade would be the process.

Rich Mosher did indicate at the LLUGM (Lionel Legacy Users Group Meeting) that they would be testing before release.

Marty, didn't Rich say they expected it to be the end of May?

No, not here yet outside of Chicago. I did register, so per MartyE's email I should be set. What exactly are the changes here?

John

Here are the changes that we were told about at the Legacy Users Group Meeting...

The Base disconnect issue will be taken care of.

The random loss of engine data such as returning to Cab 1 will be addressed.

The names will scroll forward and back now.

There are some additional setting for the remote as far as staying on and such.

I am doing this from memory but these are the ones that stick out.

John,
If I remember your layout spans a couple of rooms in your basement.
Have you had any signal issues when running from different rooms?

RD,

Yes, in one of my rooms my handheld does not work very well. My easy workaround is I don't use the remote in that room. Thankfully, that is not a big or critical room.

Since I properly installed the base program chip after a crash, my Legacy has been working fine. Though several mishaps occurred after the reinstall the Legacy base has held up just fine. I have skipped operating every day and still shut off power to the base when not in use. Not sure the new program will help with my layout unless there are some fixes to problems included such as an engine will continue to gain speed to the "set point" even if I move to a second engine with the remote to control another engine. That would be a good thing to fix...

As indicated by Marty earlier, Lionel is working hard to get it to you by the end of May. They have to incorporate beta testers input and perform regression testing so depending upon how it proceeds I would not be surprised that it may be June. As illustrated by the DCS 4.0 roll out, beta testing may be problematic and sometimes fixes for one issue causes other issues. Lionel will get it correct, and I personnally hope that they are not driven by the end of May date. I will be a happy camper to recieve the new release anytime this summer.

I wonder who the beta testers are, assuming that they are under a NDA we may not hear anything, but you think with all the work that we did here with Legacy someone like Marty would have got a first crack at it

I had the service dept on the phone today so I took the opportunity to ask if there was any word on when the update would be available. The best I could get out of him was it was likely going to be another month. Beta testing continues.
