This weekend one of my Atlas-O Dash-8 engines started acting up. Upon powering up, the engine sounds came on before I addressed the engine with the remote. The engine then started taking off at a high speed and did not respond to my Cab-1 commands.
I tried running the engine on a separate loop but the same problems resulted. Other TMCC engines run fine on both tracks...it is only this engine having this issue. I tried resetting the engine which corrected the problem momentarily but then the problems ensued once more. The engine would speed up, slow down, and speed up and it was non-responsive to the Cab-1. Is there anything I can perform (such as reprogramming the Engine ID) before contacting Atlas? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks, Rick |

Call Bill at Atlas. If you can, drop it off. They are not to far from Newark Airport.

I had a similiar proplem with my Lionel GP7. I had no control with my Legacy system and it would just take off. I returned it to Lionel for repair. Problem was a loose flywheel.

I had a similar problem with an Atlas GP60, but it would not take off, it would creep.
Found out much later the engine was part of a consist (or lashup , TR n), and the TR n was the same as the TPC 300 that controlled the power. I found out because I bought a pair of Lionel tunnel motors and I wanted to see how well the EOB worked with the Odyssey by creating a consist, and when I took the consist apart, voila, the creep was gone! The consist number might have been set by the previous owner. Michael ![]() ![]() |
