Ok i got my Lionel Legacy hooked up to the TMCC-1, and the insructions need to be updated and simplified. The whole 50's retro manual is cute, but there needs to be a huge revision.
1. The whole thing with the white generic moduals needs to be explained better. As it is i am still confused if i have to enter the modual after each engine, or only once into the command base. 2. It is very cool with the whole momentum thing, however i have yet to figure out how the heck to reverse the engine. LOL LOL 3. The original TMCC manual is the idea to follow, it was very clear and very consise. 4. I am 40 years old and decently technical educated and this system took me a couple of nights, CTT trains artical, the original TMCC-1 and help from here to get it set up. It just seems confusing. Ok, i m done bitching. LOL LOL the new handheld is great, and i am enjoying the experience. However i do believe these are real issues that will stand in the way of people getting this system. Bill |

you can download/print the latest version of the manual at lionel's website. you also might want to check out some of marty e's vids on legacy operation. they have helped me a ton! as far as reversing goes, just press the boost/brake wheel on the right hand side of the remote. push it one time for each time you want to change direction.
hang in there bill! ____ Greg-3 railer, but friendly to 2 railers |

Bill, I agree. I have often posted and it is my opinion that the Legacy manual was written for those that have prior command control experience especially with TMCC1. I never had TMCC1 and jumped right into Legacy and experienced some "basic" problems and had many questions.
With the help of this forum I am now running rather than walking and absolutely love this system! Greg, Lionel Fan |

Each revision is better. I found last month's CTT article the best to date as far as showing some hook ups and functionality.

Now, how can something that new have a LEGACY!

One other thing besides the instructions...Legacy needs to be able to control the volume on the crew talk functions. Since basements are as rare as hen's teeth here in California, my layout is in the garage. I generally lower the volume of the railsounds to half volume for the chuff and steam release sounds to keep peace with the neighbors...the full volume horn, bell and whistle is great, however, when I go to the shutdown sequence, that voice...with the "Deliverance" accent talking about "packin' it in for the day," is super annoying and incredibly loud! I know, I could remove the battery or flip the railsounds switch, but, it seems that there should be a keypad command for this...overall, this is a very small nit to pick, and I am absolutely thrilled with Legacy! - dischler
