Right now I have a Legacy unit controlling a ZW with two PHs powering three loops of track running three conventional engines.

Two of my conventional engines have pullmors. These work fine. No issues at all.

I have a new set due to arive in a few days with a TMCC pullmor engine (LIONEL 31752 B&O DIESEL FREIGHT SET).

This brings me to my questions:

Is there still a chance that my ZW chip will malfunction, requiring the upgraded chip?

Will my ZW work just fine since I already have successfully run pullmor engines? Is the ZW malfuncion related only to TMCC pullmor engines?

Thanks in advance.

It may. If it does no big deal, contact lionel and ask for a chip replacement.
I assume your ZW is a PWC series. If it is not then you most likely will have no problems

Are all ZWs with the 2 PHs included in the PWC Series?

Were there certain years for the ZW PWC series?

My PHs are 180s and not the 135s, if that helps.

I think the PWC series only came with 135 watt PH

I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that my new pullmor powered TMCC locomotive does work perfectly.

The bad news is that it does NOT work with the ZW. I had to use a small old transformer.

Looks like I will be calling Lionel for the upgraded ZW chip.

More bad news.

I called Lionel and the chips are out of stock. They said to try again in a couple of weeks?

Do I have any other options for a chip?

I dont mind paying a few dollars for one.

My new ZW chip arrived today.

Smile

I will install and test it sometime later this week and post an after-action-report.

It wasnt easy, but I finally got the the new chip installed and put the ZW back together and wired it up.

The Pullmor powered TMCC locomotive now runs flawlessly.
