bullfrogs;
Enough with the whining already! If you read any of the other posts on this forum you will see that units are already back in the hands of many.

You're right Mel, I agree with you, it looks like another bad case of open mouth insert foot syndrome. If bullfroggs would have bothered to read any of the other posts on this topic he would have seen that Lionel is doing an absolutely fantastic job on these upgrades. Kudos to all of the Lionel staff.

My first comment still stands. Sorry I spelled "bullfroggs" incorrectly. I don't think you want me to go through your post and correct ALL your misspellings and grammatical errors. I may be a math major but I do know something about capitalization and a few other things.
it,s should be It's but I won't go any further.I don't know how else any one was supposed to take your original post.

mel. good for you on being a math major. thanks for correcting my capitals and punctuations but you still don't see the point of the post. my original question was what are we going to do in the mean time with lionel taking our legacy. how are we suppose to run our trains. take my first note and do with it as you want. you are missing the point.

First off I wish Lionel would take my Legacy...instead I gave it to a friend to take and get upgraded and then he got sick and then.... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

What did you run your trains with before Legacy? I think and I am doing that right now. Conventional. It's fun too! Please don't this hobby that serious that a week of non Legacy action is going to ruin your train fun!

I wasn't happy that mine had to go back either but the turn around time is impressive so hopefully you won't be waiting long. I will be without Legacy now for 4 weeks... 2 while I was at work, 1 while it is at a friends who is going to drive up and get them zapped, and then another weeks worth of work. Talk about with draws!

I sent my legacy system back right before the fourth of July. The UPS Store said that it would arrive there on the 8th... Imagine my surprise then when the system was already back to me today when I got home from work... now THAT is turnaround!

It was gone and back, in just over 1 week's time...

Thanks Mike R, and Lionel!

OK all you Legacy owners who are getting their upgraded wonderful Legacy system back already.....have pitty on this poor West Coast Legacy owner....I know the upgrade turn-around time is super fast and that they are doing a super job...but it takes a UPS truck longer (5-6 days)to get here on the other end of the world. This Legacy withdrawl is bad enough without knowing you guys are already enjoying the "Wonderful World of Legacy". Please have pitty.....awe shucks....just kidding....have fun! I'm really glad you are letting me know how great it is.

Steve

If it wasn't for you hanging onto your system a couple days longer so I could play I would be in a serious funk. As it turns out Dave got sick and couldn't get up to Mike's on Monday. The next available time and we all couldn't get together. Now it looks like Monday and I'll be at work again. You might have yours back before me.

Seriously though it has forced me to work on other projects so I'm not too bad off. Now I fixed the screen door, cut the grass, and then there is that hole in the wall. Big Grin Big Grin

Marty.....

Sorry to hear about the delay getting your Legacy updated. It sounded like you had a fastrack to Mike's workshop. Had a lot of fun that evening running and learning new Legacy tricks. Wiener's are awaiting their steak next time you are in town.....dropped Allan a line about my layout...gives me motivation to finish by September.....boy getting all those building kits finished is going to be a chore....have a great and safe work trip.

Does turnaround time really matter?

I ran TMCC for a long time without Legacy. Just reconnected the track wire and the TPC's to the TMCC base and I was back up and running.

Sure, I'd like them back ASAP, but I still get to play with my trains while the Legacy base and CAB-2 are gone.

From what I see in other threads, they'll probably be back before the trip is over.

bullfroggs,

Adding to what Marty and others have said, I think you'll be happily surprised at the turnaround. I live in Raleigh, NC and sent my Legacy units late afternoon Monday, July 7, via UPS to Ohio for the upgrade. I received it all back upgraded Friday afternoon, July 12, four days after sending it to Lionel. (It was sent UPS regular ground, by the way, not even second-day air.) That means they must have received it Wednesday morning, performed the upgrade, repacked it, and given it back tp UPS Wednesday afternoon. Same day service turnaround (excluding shipping time) is the best anybody could hope for.

In the interval while your Legacy system is gone, I suggest operating your layout with your old TMCC/Cab-1 system. That's what I did.

Mailed using Priority Mail last Thursday afternoon from Southern California.

Received three emails today:

1. Receipt acknowledged.
2. It's been sent with tracking number.
3. Don't really understand the third one which followed the first two which acknowledged my repair request.

At any rate, Legacy might be back before the start of the trip. Assume five days for UPS to Southern California.

So much for turn around time concerns. :>Wink

Hope some of these folks can make the NMRA show in Anaheim this weekend. Funny thing, though, the vendor/manufacturer list doesn't show Lionel nor are LCCA or TCA listed. All were at the WGH show in San Diego the first part of the year. Hope they make it. Current plans are to be there Friday. Just look for the "Large" guy with gray beard in a jumpsuit riding a mobility scooter.

I sent my legacy set in for the upgrade, on July 7th. I got it back today.
The main reason I sent it in, was the base not found issue. Time will tell if that issue has been fixed. It was kind of odd, that I got three e-mails from Lionel, in the space of five minutes today after I had it back. Oh well, all's well that ends well.

Lionel has a customer phone line and is best to use it for the reason they call it the "customer phone line"

I got my RA number online immediately after the announcement but I haven't sent in my base/remote yet. I got an email acknowlegement today for the RA request. Taking this and what Andy said, Lionel must be catching up with the email part of the program.

I got a kick out of this today too Cam. I received all three emails today: The RA notification, the receipt of my base, and notification that it has shipped back. Of course, I got the base back last week. Smile

Bullfrogs is confusing the Legacy - Tim Regan part of Lionel with the email - web part of Lionel which is a totally separate operation.

Turn around time was very fast, about a week. Service was excellent. Used my old Cab-1 in the meantime to keep grandson Matthew happy. Wink

Mr Bullfrog
It can be arranged to have your Legacy back in 2009. There are a lot of hard working people who could make that happen for you.

But unless you insist on 2009, the company will get it back much faster.
