I have about 15 engines in two different Cab-2 handhelds. They are a mixture of TMCC and Legacy engines. All work fine. I tried to add another engine today and everytime I used the module (Generic Diesel) it would fail, the red light would come on with loss of base command. It would also happen if I tried a manual load. It would fail after I imputed the road number. Once it failed, with either the module or manual imput, I would lose communication with the base and couldn't get it back until I cycled the power off then on. Just for kicks I tried the generic steam module with the same result. What am I doing wrong. First I would select the new ID number (21 in this case), then select INFO. I tried loading from the module, which would fail and lose communication with the base. Tried again but this time after the INFO I selected the box to the left to manually imput. After naming the engine I selected NEXT and imputted road number (332) in the case. Communications with base would fail and message "not saved" would display. After a cycle of the power, everything works again. Same result in both handhelds. Please excuse me if this has been discussed before, but I'm relatively new to the forum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Well the remotes are talking to the same base so that's probably why both fail. I would try reloading the base software (the blue module marked base). The instructions are in the new manual on line at Lionel. If that doesn't work I would call Lionel in the morning.

You are not the first to have this complaint. It is a known bug and I do not know if you can work around it by doing the reload of the base program. I have less than 15 so I can not say if my stuff is limited also. For now I am waiting to see what the new program module does when it comes out...

Thanks for the answers. I did discover that if I do the manual imput and select the blank space for a name, then select next and imput a road number, it will save the locomotive. Still no luck with the modules. I guess I'll wait for the Lionel update/upgrade module to arrive to see if the new software will help. Does the 1.0 version have some kind of limit on memory? I did talk to a Lionel Tech Rep, he wasn't much help (friendly though). He seemed to think the new software was sent out last week to registered users.
