The antennae on my new legacy base is loose as can be and flops over the nut is tight but the antennae is not it looks ok any ideas or did I just get a defective antennae? chief

If the nut is tight and the antenna is loose, it's defective. Take it or ship it back to your dealer for a replacement.

Will I will give lionel a call first I would suspect the antennae is the problem since I see nothing wrong with the base itself, it doesn't affect operations however. thanks chief

check to see if you have cross threaded the antenna when you installed in on the unit

If the loose antenna doesn't bother you, and if it does not diminish your system's response range, then perhaps you can live with it.

Jim's right to suggest checking to see if you cross-threaded the nut in error. That's a simple fix if it's the problem.
