I just bought the Legacy control system. It came with a cable with 3 female ends. Is this the power master bridge that will allow me to operate the power master to vary the track voltage?
Also, it came with memory modules. Do you need to put these into the cab 2 before you operate them? I have 3 TMCC engines that I want to run. I also just bought a Legacy Diesel. Do you need to install that memory module before you run the engine. As far as I can tell, the lionel manual does not say anything about that in its start up instructions. The manual is very confusing and frustrating. Any help is greatly appreciated jwally |

No the cable is NOT the Power Master Bridge. The cable that came with it allows you to connect the TPC/ data line to things that need the TMCC data and the other end attaches to the old command base if you want to run trains using both Legacy and the Cab1.
The blue modules that came with the system are not needed to run trains. They are there just in case the base and remote and a software reload. Make sure before you load any engine info, each engine has a unique TMCC address. To run TMCC engine you can run them in CAB1 mode or if they are TMCC1 engines you can use the tan modules that were in the Legacy box to do some basic set up of the remote to handle them more in a Legacy environment. You'll still have to name it and set some settings. The book does cover this but you are right it's not the best. Finally the Legacy engine...your best bet is to load the module that came with it. It will set up the Legacy controller to get the most out of your Legacy engine. You must first address the loco and then load the module. When you start and have some specific question chime in. It maybe easier than going through the whole setup. But we can if we need to. "Then again what do I know? jwally, check to see if your Legacy system is the 1.0 or 1.2 version. Hopefully you will have 1.2. If it isn't, go to Lionel's website to register it and then get the RA# to upgrade it to 1.2.
Ken. Due to the current economic conditions the light at the end of the tunnel has temporarily been turned off. |

If it is 1.0 check to make sure the silver dot isnt on it, you dont need to send those in to upgrade them

Thanks for all the advice. I had sent it to Lionel on Monday and got it back on Friday. I was panicking last night after reading that manual and was a bit overwhelmed. After sleeping on it and following MartyE's clear simple steps. I had great success with the Cab 2. The manual is not as intimdtating as before. The Rock Island GP-7 is awesome.
Lionel owes much to the help of all forumites in advising us on how to use their products. jwally |

The powermaster bridge IS the device that allows you to control powermasters with Legacy. It has not been available but it is in the latest catalog.
With this in place, commands go through the air from the Legacy remote to the Legacy base, then from the base via wire to the powermaster bridge. The powermaster bridge then sends the commands through the air to the powermaster. The powermaster thinks it is getting commands from a cab-1 and responds accordingly. Cam |
