You need to run it in CAB-1 mode until the new update comes out for the Legacy remote.

Correct power sequence is:
1. Turn transformer power on, but do not advance handle. 2. Wait 3 seconds. 3. Turn power on to Legacy base. Start up you hand-held unit. 4. Increase transformer to full voltage. See page 58 of the Legacy manual. Your engine will operate in cab-1 mode unless you load one of the legacy generic TMCC modules (Diesel or steam) that came with the set. For Electric I would try the Diesel one. |

Guys
thanks...so my rear power car is still always coming on an never shutting off... i have it now set to cab1 mode with rs5 and other as engine type. When i do the aux2, F/R, aux2 the only thing that happens is the headlight on the powered unit goes off an on...is there a trick to this? the doors are already open so theres no way for me to try the aux1, F/R to open. Thanks soo much guys |

I think there are two things going on here. For the head light to go off and on idicates that the TMCC signal is not being received by the engine. I have not tried running in conventional; however, in command mode, when the doors open on the cars, the coupling is not connected from the first car that has the doors open. As a result, the dummy engine will power up its sounds and be in conventional mode as well. I would try just having the lead engine on the track to see if it will operate. If it does keep adding a car. The doors should shut if the signal is being received by the coupler on each car as it is being added. One thing to check is to assure that the IR coupler mechanism is over both sides of the "U" channel. I personnally think Lionel should have had the receiving end of the coupler as an "O" and not a "U" to preclude the other end of the coupler from setting inside the "U" channel an appearing to be coupled.

I had a similar situation where the car would not work as the 1st of 6 but worked near the end of the consist. In one case I put a small piece of electrical tape on the bottom wrapped around the coupler and that kept the IR stabilized between the two cars. Also be careful about the screws on the assembly. If a screw is working loose, the fit will not be correct and the IR will not work. |
