The only thing I can find in the revised Legacy manual that relates to the red led is the Radio Link Warning Light on page 62. Basically the system operates as it should, however, ever so often the red led goes on. If I turn the velocity throttle slightly it goes off. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Sam

The red LED on the Cab2 indicates the loss of connection with the base. If it goes out when you do something with the Cab2 you're fine then it momentarily lost its way from the base but restored connection. It's when the red LED comes on, stays on, and nothing happens when you turn the throttle knob, or sound the horn, etc. that you have a problem.

Sam,

I've experienced this, too, since upgrading to 1.2. Sgaugian is correct in saying that a steady red light usually indicates the remote has lost contact with the base (and you should see the "base not found" message on your screen). Like you, I've found that turning the red knob (velocity throttle) just a slight bit in either direction causes the remote and base to connect again.

In another thread (if I understand him correctly) Sgaugian suggests pressing the CTC button twice (toggle on and off) has the same effect of reconnecting the remote talking to the base; however, I have not yet tried that.

There is also discussion about lash-ups possibly causing this to happen more often, but I have not tested that thesis, either. I have quite a number of lash-ups programmed into my Cab-2 remotes and Legacy base (of both Legacy engines and TMCC engines), and so it'll be difficult for me to delete them all to see if that has any effect.

Please keep posting if you think you might identify any possible causes.

The red light just started to act up and light. I have not added any thing new to the remote. I have and use the hawkings antenna and range is not an issue. Funny thing is the batteries are newly replaced Alk's I checked the voltage and they all exceed 1.5 volts. I am still using original 1.0 version program. I am less than 5' from the antenna also...
