It isn't just on freight railroads where Amtrak trains are made to wait for freights. This morning, Acela 2159 had to wait at Guilford station for Providence & Worcester train NR-2 to pass, because there was only one track
available from that point to Branford, about 9.5 miles away, due to brush trimming by Amtrak. As you can hear in the video, my dog, Dino doesn't like the idea of freights delaying passenger trains any more than I do! http://www.flickr.com/photos/33786891@N02/4080174861 Lee |

Wow, never saw the P&W get priority over an Acela! Shoreline dispatcher must have lost a bet.
Paul ...it's just a jump to the left... |

The other day they held Amtrak's Capital Limited here for empty autos. Crew had plenty of time, I have no idea how that happened. He had both mains, too.
When I was running, the dispatcher would hold us if Amtrak was within 100 miles of the interlocking we needed to get through!! Kinda aggrivating since the terminal is just 8 miles west and that's as far as we needed. Guess he wouldn't trust our 100+ empty coal trains... And ON Amtrak, forget trying to take your freight out during rush. Many times we had to sit to get on the North East Corridor for 5-6 hours. |

Yeah, the freight has 3 units and about 30 cars,(small train) I'm not sure who's going to delay who ? Does the pass train have to make a reverse movement over a X over to get at the station platform or is this station even a regular stop?

This is a regular stop for Shore Line East trains, the commuter service
operated east of New Haven by Amtrak, on behalf of the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation. |
