To the best of my knowledge this was the last slab train to cross the massive Speers Trestle that spans across the Monongahela River in Belle Vernon,Pa

Big flat pieces of thick flat steel slabs loaded in the "GONS". Do a search on Slab train you will see some Vids of them.

I go past that trestle quite often and have never seen a train use it. I wonder how often it is used? Thanks for the pic.

used to pass this twice a week on my way to and from school and never seen a train use it did get some good pics thought

They used to run them from time to time out of the LA Harbor. ATSF used flat cars, though.

Does "last" mean the "most recent", or the "final"? If the final, why for how come? What happened / changed? Where did these slabs come from and go to?
