Finally something a little different at the CSX Locomotive Shop in Cumberland,
CP Rail 6063:









A "GMD" SD40-2! Not a whole lot different than a EMD unit, huh. I see some pipes on the rear top that go into the end of the locomotive..wonder what they are. Has lift rings on the back porch..and a snow plow outlet.

Don't have any idea why she's there. Could be as power, needing a little work to get back out on the road, or CP Rail could have sold her, and it's waiting for transfer to the buyer. First unit from Canada I've photographed here.

Son Doug, who is an electrician at the Cumberland shop, was cleared to go back to work yesterday after a long four months of recuperating from a motorcycle wreck. A very lucky young man, he did not suffer critical injuries.

Ed- Glad to hear Doug is better. Motorcycle wrecks can be rough. I've had a few, cycles that is. I saw a nice Harley at the dealer that I can't get out of my head. I want it, but my reaction times are not what they used to be. I like the second picture down.

My turn....Margaret and I went on a little trip to southern central Michigan to watch the Little River Railroad run it's Pacific #110 and Tank engine #1.

What a perfect day, 75 degrees, sunny and dry air. These pictures were taken by Margaret since I was operating the Video camera. It was an enjoyable trip. We'll be back there soon.

That has to be the smallest drivered Pacific I have ever seen.

Now that I look at it closer thouhg I see the way they have the drivers painted makes them look even smaller than they are. I would definitely paint the tire rims white.

I think that buggy appears to be a cut down '37 Ford. Hard to tell, though.

That buggy was some wierd concoction. Really short, with nothing behind the firewall except seats. The rear tires appeared to be tractor tires.

It could be something someone just cut up and put together, but I'd guess it is an old airport (or depot) baggage cart tractor.

The front end, and the wheels ( not the tires) appear to be '36 Ford, not '37 as I had thought.

And from the archives some ten years or so ago when LRRR #110 was running mini-trips out of White Pigeon to Sturgis, MI as part of the annual 4th of July Festival in White Pigeon. I jumped aboard the little tour helicopter for the river shot. A bargain at $30 compared to other aerial charters I've done.

parker99...Great pictures. What is that short siding in your last picture used for?

That short siding would be for setting out a bad order car, in an emergency (bad/hot journal, air problem, broken draft gear/coupler, etc.).
