Ran across this on YouTube and tracked it back to it's parent website Yes, I'm sure their activity is of dubious legality. The only mention of location is Sonoma County, and some shots of decaying Southern Pacific locomotives. Any clue what line it might be? The trip ends at a washout. ---PCJ |

PCJ, I did a little searching on Microsoft Virtual Earth in Sonoma County, CA and found the tracks these folks were on. The diesels, etc. were parked on a siding in Schellville or Schelville, CA. You can clearly see the equipment and a little further south is where the tracks are washed out. If you haven't explored on Virtual Earth or Google Earth they're both worth checking out. You can download the software for each for free.

I knew we were not the only kids to build a car but I have to admit they seemed to have more fun on those great tracks. But our car ran on live tracks following train crews so we could do our signal work. And we have the distinction of going up and back on the Hellgate bridge where we used our car to deliver people and parts for a signal job. Glad others have found fun with the old rails...
No pedals or seat at first. But we never had to pedal either. We kept upgrading the car as time went on.. Hey I have a Railroad to Run... Operating the NYC, CSX, PRR, and NYNH & H RR Daily ! Where Trains run Often Located in Billville USA. |
