Just read an article in the Star Ledger today that reported that passenger rail travel across the USA is growing in unprecendented numbers.
SEPTA (PA) ridership was up 10% alone in Q1. NJ Transit is up over 5% and commuter RR's across the county are scrambling to get more passenger cars online quickly. Even NJ's old crickety retired passenger cars were scooped up by commuter lines in PA. Utah and even in Montreal Canada. Due to overcrowding NJ Transit has gone to double decker rail cars on two key lines to solve the problem. The energy crisis is sure having a positive effect on the RR's. Amtraks NE Corridor route is now sold out most of the time. Those who enjoy rail travel will finally see more choices.

I would LOVE to have a direct run of AMTRAK from Chicago to Evansville.
