As of 7/12, the east side roadbed to Needles Eye Tunnel on Rollins Pass (Colorado) is passible. Much different from our 6/28 trip (shown in a previous posting).
On the roadbed to Needles Eye Tunnel: Reached It: Yankee Doodle Lake from the top of Needles Eye Tunnel (ice free this time): Don't go to fast around this one: http://brycobro.homestead.com/files/photos/TwinTrestle1.jpg Or this one: Because its a long way down: Roadbed to the summit (remains of snow sheds): Looking back at the cut (they were not worried about the tundra): What an example of determination and sweat (as well as money) Enjoy! Great photos! Did you hike this or drive? Either way, must have been an awesome trip.

My sons and myself rode our dirt bikes up the entire east side right up to the tunnel. We then hiked up the ridge over Needles eye and continued our trek westward on the old road bed. After a quite breezy lunch at the trestles, we returned the same way.
