That old panel truck belongs to a forumite here!
Can't remember his forum name, but he posted pictures
of it here. I think he is a musician. WOW!

Also the tag beginning with "NSN" means that it
was in the US Navy inventory. Wonder where from?

Interesting times that we live in!

I would LOVE to find one of these in my area!
My next "toy"! Done hotrods, boats, motorcycles
and even fire trucks. Would really like to get a
piece of railroad hardware like that! Even have a
(legal) place to run one!

NSN means National Stock Number; anything that the military purchases is given its own number. All you have to do is just give the NSN to the supply person and they will order it for you. You name it and it has a NSN.

Wow, Remy, thanks for the shot of the truck. I have a few models of this truck but never really expected it to be true-to-life!
My compliments to you, also, on the WONDERFUL, authentic-looking work train in the 3-Rail thread: "Do You Do Your Own Custom Work?" Absolutley fantastic hand-crafting. Thanks for that inspiring view, too.
Respect,
Frank

Jeff, thanks for the pictures. Very interesting in a parking lot? I heard it mentioned that you were a musician and noted one of the pics of the truck loaded up for a "gig". I know you mentioned that you played the harmonica once on the Lilly Belle Disney private car when you were at work. Do you play any other instrument and what kind of music? Are you connected to that Blue Grass group that played at AGHR one time? Now that you get to run the new Ward Kimball engine at the park, it would be fitting if you played the slide trombone like Ward did and Dixieland jazz. Ray

Hey Jeff. Thanks for posting the speeders. Who knows why they're sitting there. Would be interesting to see what they're going to do with them.

As for tracks in Redondo Beach, ATSF's Redondo Beach branch line was taken out more than 20 years ago.

Jeff, Shmitty is a beaut. I like to go to car shows in the area around here, and at the big ones, somebody always has a panel or a suburban of "Shmitty's" age..along with being a part of American Culture, they are very handy. Was Shmitty an actual REA vehicle?

Look closely at the third photo down and read what it says. The proper name for this thing is a "Motor Car". Or you may hear it roll off of the tongue as "Mo-tee-car".
Those of you who will disagree, probably think, this guy has quite a lashup of speeders.

Jeff, the desert water bag on the grille of Schmitty is a nice touch.

Matt, I went down to Redondo on the ATSF once - in 1973. I was forced-assigned to the Los Angeles Engineers' Extra Board, and caught the daylight El Segundo road switcher. We took our two engines light, to Redondo Beach, for a hot lunch, then came back to El Segundo and resumed work.
