A 4-year-old boy has been upgraded from critical to stable condition after being hit by a train in northwest Atlanta, authorities said.
Elijah Anderson ran out of his yard, chasing after his dog, Atlanta Police Officer James Polite said. The crash occurred in the 2100 block of Wilson Boulevard around 5 p.m.,
The CSX train was traveling west at about 30 mph. The engineer saw the boy and tried to stop the train, but struck the child, Polite said.
The child was thrown away from the tracks, Polite said. The engineer stopped the train and called police.
The boy was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, Polite said.
Looks like the kid was extremely fortunate to be thrown to the side of the engines and not underneath.

Not again. Can you imagine how the Train Crew, and Police Officer must feel? Thank God the little fellow as you stated "was thrown to the side of the engines and not underneath."
