I have a friend who lives in the DC area and commutes on the Metro. She posted on Facebook last night how bad the ride has been since they went to all manual operations.

She asked for Dramamine booths at every stop. Could all those years on automatic control really be that detrimental to the operating crews?

If they put those booths in, METRO is going to have a lot of sleepy passengers.

I ride the red line for only two stops between Shady Grove and Rockville.

It's a tiny bit annoying in that half the time it seems that the operators don't know where to stop the trains. The trains will stop, only to start again and move 3 - 5 feet further up the platform.

It becomes a little bit dangerous because many folks figure the train has stopped and let go of the hand rails. Then when the train starts again, they are not holding onto anything.

Since the accident and manual operation, I no longer can read because of car sickness caused by a jerky ride on the red line.

They should hire motormen from NYC and Chicago.
