When I ride the Baltimore Lie Rail North past North Ave Station I look down and see a building labeled Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad. It looks like a burned out brill trolley in front of the building and a few PCC's on the side. What was this facility?
Further up I think I am seeing an old roundhouse that is now housing sand, concrete etc materials for a construction company. Am I seeing this right? IS this part of the B&O or MAPA????? You are correct in guessing the MA&PA.
The first building you mention is the old MA&PA freight house,it is now used by the Baltimore Streetcar Museum as their machine, and workshops. The roundhouse is indeed the old MA&PA Baltimore roundhouse,it's used by the city to store road salt, there is a rumor that the city is going to donate the roundhouse, and adjacent property to the BSM. The Brill trolley you mentioned is a former Philadelphia wooden snow sweeper, used as parts for a sister sweeper in the carbarn. Carl T. Man of many gauges, master of none! |
