That is certainly not the finest day in CNJ history. While not quite the "Broker" incident in Matawan on the NY&LB, this was certainly a major tragedy for the CNJ and its commuters.
On a side note, the two GP7Ps involved did get rebuilt into GP9s being the only two GP9s CNJ ever owned "new". As to the fate of the Bethlehem Ship Builing cars that ended up in the bay, I don't know the fate. Goes to show, with recent events, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
