I just wanted to comment on how pleased I am with Klines buildings. I recently bought a kline factory with the loading dock. At first glance it looked a little cheap, but after weathering it and adding lighting and signs it looks great. I once vouched only to go with the mth buildings as I thought their pre assembled quality was un matched but after this kline experience I will say that for a 3rd of the price you could have just as nice a building. I will take some pictures and post them. If anyone else has some kline buildings that they spruced up, I would love to see them as well.

I have a number of K Line buildings. The nicest one I think is the school is one of the best. I have a number of MTH buildings which make up my early 20th century neighborhood. I have the factory which was a Hershey and I have not painted it. I am misssing a door. I would like to find one. Is Lionel the owner of the K Line buildings' molds? I also have a few Plasticville: The Ranch, cabin, RR Station fire station, and police. There is a dealer for these at our annual train show. Watch the You Tube Videos to see my buildings

I have one K-line building, the "20 Century Diner." Nice quality....I believe the diner car is aluminum and is painted a bluish-gray with a black rood.

Most of the MTH buildings I DON"T like. I can't put my hand on it, but to me they, er seemed, "forced", a "regidity" a Victorian building does not have. But to me, the switchtower looks nice.

I have several MTH buildings. The value is good and the buildings in most cases are realistic. Weathering the buildings has added a much greater level of realism to them. The buildings are factory lighted as well. Becasue they are sold built and not as a kit enhances the value for me, and after weathering, most of my MTH buildings look great.

The only characteristic of certain MTH city type buildings I don't like is the above average thickness of the sidewalk bases. I realize the street on a layout can be build up to make the sidewalk height more porportionate, but I would prefer a thinner base.

Some guys answer this by recessing some of the sidewalk until it is prototypical but I simply removed the mth sidewalk and made sidewalks out of masonite and painted them concrete color rather than that awful grey on the mth buildings.

A great thing about the MTH "Harley" building (now a Chevy dealership) I detailed was the deep mortar lines between the red bricks. It's the first building I've been able to mortar to my liking (looking like a new, or well cared for brick building). Are all of the MTH brick buildings like this? Joe

I disagree that the K-Line buildings are as nice as the MTH buildings. One most are the size of Plasticville since they are built on the same molds so are S scale and not O scale. Secondly the level of detail on the K-Line buildings in my opinion is less.

I agree with the statement they are not as detailed but with some weathering and some added items they look just as nice if not better for a fraction of the price. In this day and age price is a huge factor.

Oposing opinions are fine. Did I give the impression that I felt otherwise?

No you didn't buddy and don't sweat the small stuff LOL! You did a good job on that factory by theway I just think the Plasticville/K-Line which I use the Plasticville church's since any different ones are near impossible to find, are just a tad undersized.

Thank you, Vagolfer, I try not to sweat the small things but it seams like some people just like drama. You know after you said that I took another look at my kline factory and it does appear some what small, but I guess since it is away from other bildings, in the corner of my layout it looks fine but if it were next to another building I could see that it would look smaller. By the way doesn't MTH make a church?

They do and it's a small thing that I don't like the look of. One of these days I am just going to have to scratchbuild a nice large church. You will not find a lot of manufacturers that make churches to begin with.

Here is a pretty nice O scale church by internet models. I like the old simple look that this one has. I hope this helps you some.

Actually, that kit is from BTS and is based on a church in West VA near Cass.

And, American Model Builders also sells a laser cut kit for a somewhat smaller church.
