Yesterday i got lucky. A saturday trip to Nicholas Smith's turned up a decent cache of old Korber kits. I was able to buy another Lionel Factory, Kit No. 1928, in addition to a kit i have never seen before No. 918 Union Ice service co. Maybe someone can tell me about that kit.
Anyway i now have two of these No. 1928 Lionel factories, but they are in very different boxes. One is a plain white box with the familiar Korber paper label, the other is a silver box with the Lionel logo on it and a 1900-90 anniversary logo. My question is: is there any difference between the two kits? and if you were going to make one and kit bash the other, which would it be? A small aside to those forumites in the Chesco-Delco PA area, N Smith had at least 10 more old Korber kits, still in shrink wrap, all at a really good price. Unfortunately, i already owned most of them, or i would've bought them all! Good luck and thanks for any help, Nick "The great northern out of cheyenne, from sea to shining sea" |

Sounds like the one with the Lionel logo was a special run for them. Might be a collectors item?
Maybe you should save that one for a while, then Whee bay it and buy an articulated loco with all the loot. John |
