I can't seem to find a source for an 0 gauge 1:43 scale Batman figure. I'm thinkin' it would be rather cool to add him to the roof on the Sears Tower of my Chicago South Loop project.

ACF,
It took me forever to find my superhero of sorts for the Empire State Building. I even found a Daily Planet building top, but am still waiting for Superman. (Isn't the whole world!)

I just got into the habit of hanging around toy departments and garage sales. Sooner or later you get lucky! Actually the internet and the bay, in particular, would probably save a lot of legwork.

Go take a look at HeroClix figures. HeroClix is a game that uses figures on a base with certain ratings for speed, strength, etc. They have several different Batman figures available. I have found that a lot of these figures, especially the female figures, are real close in size to O-Scale [1-3/8" to a little over 1-1/2" in height]. For certain topics that appear from time to time on the OGR forum... I would recommend the White Queen or Black Queen figure. Wink

I'm always looking for alternative sources for figures in poses that are different than the norm. A little bit of painting, and the figures can easily go from Superhero to Joe and Jane public.

Hey Jim, check out Borders. I recently saw a figure pack in the sci-fi book section with an O scale Superman in flight position, along with 4 or 5 other hero types (not sure on who they were, 2 were female). They were nicely done. No Batman though. Maybe that company makes others.

John

ps: maybe you could animate Superman to fly in circles above your city.

I've Harry Potter on my layout. BEFORE the Lionel set. Got mine in with some buildings that came out with Movie 1. They look about O.

Have Harry and Miss Granger on a PRR open PRR obs car, while Ron is stuck in a tree with the blue Ford.

And, yes, the two recent Batman movies were done in the Windy City. Some scences were dome near Union Station, and in an Amtrak coach yard!

I always thought that Gotham was NY and Metropolis was Chicago. Chicago being the big city from the Midwest where Smallville was located. Wikipedia says otherwise.

Now the Dark Knight was filmed in Chicago, so Gotham is based there.

I guess there were elements of both cities in Gotham and Metropolis.

Of course Spiderman is clearly from NY but the elevated train sequences in the prior film were filmed in Chicago.

In MA we have Newbury Comics, Inc. which is a CD DVD Comic Poster and Characture store. Good likely hood of finding things O scale there. Have also purchased super hero O figures in "gumball machines" at $.50 a pop random selection. Have bought similar figures at shows. Maybe on EEEEK B A? Or modify an inexpensive Model Power etc plastic figure.

I think that Gotham in the DC comic, & even in the first movie series (Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney) was New York. The director of this last series of films was from Chicago, so he wanted to film there. Lotta cool shot in the film of the Chicago financial district, Chicago Board of Trade, La Salle Street, ect. All the stuff I'm donin' in the South Loop project.

Yes, Borders bookstore. It was in the sci-fi section on top of the bookshelves. Plastic box with a clear front. A little pricey, but use a Border's coupon off their internet site.

I think pennsyk is referring to King Kong's somewhat gesturous pose atop the Empire State Building.

Don't listen to what they're saying about your father! I thought that this time he was safe on top of that building. But, they're still taking shots at him! Incredible!!!

You might want to check out some comic book stores if there are any in your area. I remember a few years back when my son was into them, I would take him to these stores and they had all kinds of figures that I have not seen before or since. Many looked like they were 1:48 scale. They were a little pricey, but very good quality. I purchased "The Tick" driving a Studebaker, his head poking out of the roof. He was a little large, but the car was 1:48. I also got a "Cat Woman" for my daughter. As suggested by Jim, try Ebay. I'm sure that one will show up there.

Good luck!

stevin,
It's a mystery to me too! That scene has been viewed by several hundred visitors over the years with nothing but favorable comments. It is one of my more popular scenes. No one has clamped their hands over their children's eyes and gone running from the room yet.

Thank you all for the suggestions on where I might find my Superman. I appreciate the help.

What luck! Our superhero was doing some tunnel boring nearby in his spare time for Don Klose on his Bellevue and Schenectady Railroad. Don graciously sent him on over when he heard that his big furry friend was taking a few hits.

Let's see anybody pick on the big ape now!

Elliot,

You've got to resize your pictures to 640 pixels on the longest dimension!!!

Thanks, Elliot.

You should resize and repost the photos. I think that figure was exactly what ACF was looking for. Smile

Matchbox makes several 1:50th scale Batmobiles.

I don't know about Matchbox, but Hot Wheels released a line of 1:50 Batmobiles a couple of months ago. However, based on dimensions of the real 60's TV Batmobile, their version of the same car is a little bit smaller than 1:50. If you want a 60's TV Batmobile, I would go with the classic Corgi 267 version and modify / detail it. Below is my attempt at making the Corgi 267
