looks like we have a good bit of interest in this build based on the enthusiastic response on the sign-up thread last week. lets see what angle you finally decided on for the build!

bfishma, I don't really have a prototype but this is a cad drawing of the receiving extension to the grocery store. This should give it a little more prominence.

also a rendering,

and a Model Builder Software look

I think I like the "old wood" look rather than siding

Something along the lines of this, minus the depot.

geoff: i love it ... may i be a stinker and borrow yours as well as inspiration for my build? i am going to add my platform to the walthers cornerstone build up of a country station, but this could mean a little clever manipulation.

ray: very cool with the autocad! looks like its a handy tool in helping to picture what the addition to the layout will look like both size and aesthetic wise.

very cool stuff! Smile

Here's the platform I'm building to add to a small shop I'm also building. Pretty basic:

I've been struggling trying to make up my mind on which type of platform to build. But I've finally decided maybe, perhaps, possibly, without doubt, subject to change, not liable for misprints, if I don't change my mind, I've settled on a concrete platform.

Whew! That was easy.

I decided on a pretty basic wooden platform like the one posted on the sign up thread by DennisB

I'm still unsure on the platform base material.

I will enclose the milk platform base with vertical siding, but am leaning toward a railroad tie base like Geoff's for the freight, and connecting them like they were two separate projects, for possible relocation in the future. I am planing Vertical Board and Batten siding for the shed.

Sorry so late. Lost power for a couple of days.

Gentlemen, with the impending shut-down of the forum tomorrow, June 17th at 10:00 DST and the uncertainty of when we may be back on-line, we have decided to postpone this Tuesday's Token build until Wednesday, the 18th. This gives us all an extra day to complete the substructures on our builds. But, this also makes for a short week next Tuesday. Smile

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the progress on Wednesday. Hope for a great turnout then.

Thanks

great idea vulcan, and way to think ahead! token tuesday will turn into wednesday what-ya-got ... i could use the extra day as there have been a few twists and turns during my build. planking and stains shouldnt take as long as the substructure, so the loss of a day shouldnt be all that bad ... i hope!

Well, either infopop forgot about the shutdown or 10:00 DST means PM and not AM.
in my book 10:00 PM tonight means the forum is shutdown on the 18th, not the 17th. Especially if it's down for a possible 24 hours. It would have been nice if they had specified the time. There's nearly a 12 hour difference between AM and PM!

Roll Eyes

Perhaps we will try to get the thread started tonight, in case we're down all day tomorrow. Instead of losing two more days.

10:00 DST

I wondered what time that was myself as I know there is EDT for Eastern Daylight Time, EST for Eastern Standard Time, PDT for Pacific Daylight Time, etc, but DST for daylight saving time doesnt tell us anything as to whether as you said AM or PM or Central time, Eastern time or Pacific Time. DST maybe that is a special time that only the Forum Gods set their watches by LOL, and that is why some threads delete after 6 months and some don't! LMAO! Big Grin

DST is daylight saving time, as Paul said. Narrows it down a bunch, huh? With DST you have an hour difference either way. AM or PM there's a 12 hour difference.
