I found these boxcars along the James River in Lynchburg, VA. The two Georgia Northeastern cars are being used as the kitchen at the Depot Grill. The old SCL car is installed as a storage shed. Note the cribbing used to keep the wheels up.

This is not mine, it's George Sellios, Ho, but I have always thought it was interesting. An old gondola..........

Yes, for a small service facility, I can see it as a sand bin. I also see a wheelbarrow to load the green sand and carry it to the drying house.

I also see.....wait a minute, who am I, Tarmac the magnificent? Big Grin

What can I make of an old boxcar?

I can make a hat, a brooch, a pterodactyl....

Rivermont hasn't changed much. I drove through there on my way to take the photos. I'm not from Lynchburg, just working here until the end of July and then going back to my home in Atlanta.

I really like the gondola. I want to add a sand pit to my mountain loco service area. I think that may be the ticket.

Wow, I would have never thought of doing this type of stuff. Something to consider for the future.
