While I was walking the dog this morning I started looking for golden rod and found that they all went too seed and turned brown. Frown But, I did find some other types of weeds that I thought might work good for weeds and brush. I picked some, coated them with dull coat and covered some with fine ground foam and left some plain.

Here are the samples of the weeds I picked, I knocked off all of the seeds on them, I'm not sure what they are but I picked the ones I thought would look good.

Here are a few after fine ground foam was added...

Here is a before shot of an area I was going to weed up...

Here are some after shots of the area...

I think it turned out pretty good. What do you think?

Wow Paul! Lookin good. Seems like you can cover just about anything with the ground foam and it will look legit. That stuff is well ace.

Very nice Paul, here along the right side of the road you could see where I used some natural weeds for weeds.

I pulled off the highway in Jersey the other day and picked some weeds. I thought they were ceedums but I think they are something else. They look nice once they are combined to form a tree. I will have to take some pictures and show you.

Looks good!

The top one is Queen Anne's Lace. The next couple
are various grasses' seed heads. The thin one is
what we called plantain. Thanks for the great ideas.

The shrub known as bridal wreath makes great armatures
for trees.

Stevin, I really like that scene. Your use of ground cover and the weeds is an inspiration, just enough to make it look real. Did you make the fence or is it one of those Lemax accessories?

Lee: you appear to know your plants pretty well.

Here are trees that I made years ago. I don't recall what the dried plant was/is, but I think it's something like English Ivory or English Lace. Michael's no longer carries it and I'm trying to see if anyone still does. But since I don't know what exactly I'm asking about it's kind of hard to find out!

I think it's the best tree dried plant out there. It actually has a leaf structure look to it. Tough to make tall trees but nice for ones up to about 6 or 7 inches tall.

Paul, I hope you consider my post here as relevant to your original post since it's dealing with 'weeds' and trees.

thanks - walt

Thank you Paul, It is actually one of the Lemax fences you could get from michaesl, although I made an india ink wash and gave each plank a wash and some more than others giving it an uneven look.

I don't recognize that one, Walt. But it may be some form
of bridal wreath. I'll look at some books to see if I can
find out anything.

Thanks Paul and Lee. I was disappointed when Michaels quit carrying it. I should have paid more attention to the name on the wrapper.

A flashback out of nowhere hit me last night: I believe it's called Ivory Lace. But my memory could be playing trickerations on me though.

Lee: do you agree?

Walt,

I did some searching and came up with 2 references to "ivory lace".
The first was Queen Anne's Lace, which is the first photo in this
thread, and obviously not the plant shown as a tree farther on.

The second reference was to a variety of cannabis.

So I'll continue searching Red Face)

Lee, I hope you're not spending too much time on this, but I appreciate you trying to find out!

I was thinking: I wonder if Michael's could have labeled it as "Ivory Lace" even though that wasn't/isn't the real name??
