I am at the point that I am looking to add more people and create scenarios on my layout. While I was looking on ebay, I keep running across these 100x figure packs. They are an excellent price compared to the other figures out there but im wondering about the quality and the variety that comes in the pack. Are there many different poses?

I bought a 200x pack of them. It turned out to be 4 x 50x packages. They are "OK." There are limited poses painted in different color combinations.

If you are interested, perhaps I could sell you 1 of my 50x bags? I doubt I'll use all 200, likely closer to 100 of them if I'm lucky.

I have some. The poses are limited but the figures are well made. The paint jobs leave something to be desired, but some touching up makes them look much better. I touched up some, and stripped the paint off others by soaking in Purple Power overnight, then repainted.

With some creativity in painting and placement, you can get around the limited number of poses at least somewhat. Someone here bought a bunch of them a year ago and posted some pics of what he did with them. It was impressive, especially for the price.

They are as stated just okay, the colors of some of the clothing is pretty bad and repainting them is necessary to look more American in my opinion. If I were to buy the ones from China I'd buy the unpainted ones and paint them myself. I don't know about the men in Charlottesville but the ones up here don't wear pink or purple pants LMAO! Personally I use Arttista and Preiser figures on my layout, a lot more poses and they look much better IMO but they cost more for sure.

stevin,

this is relatively common topic on the 3-rail forum. But, to help you out here, I'll share some info on the MTH 125 pack and also some figures that I got from Circus Craft.

The MTH (unpainted) set has something like 80 seated and about 40 standing. You can see from this shot that there are about 8 different types of seated ones and 4 to 6 different types of standing ones. If you paint them differently and carve off hats and such you can make them somewhat different:

In Railking passenger cars: some I had to cut the feet off to fit:

These are Circus Craft: bigger than MTH's ones. The arms come unattached, maybe the heads too - I don't recall. I had to watch how I used them and tried to keep them separate from MTH's ones since they are bigger. I put them in less visible places in my passenger train:

I enjoy custom painting people and animals so to me this was a fun project painting up 180 figures. Not everyone's cup of tea though.

I was temped to bid on a set of these at one point, but when I took a closer look at the colors I had second thoughts.

Colors are good for those modeling the 1970s Smile Perhaps they still are for guys modeling Iowa or some such place... (just kidding).

Yep, I've bought the Everydaygoodz figures and am very satisfied. The poses shown are all you get. The seller shipped fast from Hong Kong and gave me positive feedback instantly. I didn't mind painting over green pants and purple jackets for the price. I modified some of them too.

About a year ago, I bought the MTH unpainted set. The only problem, is that the seated figures are either looking straight ahead or to the left. You have to seat the ones looking to the left on the left side of the train, which could be a problem on a small layout, because the train would need to run clockwise for you to see them. But then again, maybe some passengers don't mind riding backwards. On crowded commuter trains these days, you usually don't have a choice.

Based on the replies, I guess I missed the point by posting my pictures of the MTH 125 and Circus Craft UNPAINTED sets. Sorry about that.

I hope not Walt. I am glad you posted, so that makes at least one!

Nice paint job, Walt. I always wondered about the crazy poses you can get by gluing all those individual arms on. I never was quite sure what the people were supposed to be doing!

Despite the colors and limited poses, the everydaygoodz figures are excellent around the layout.

For one thing, now all my autos have drivers. This required amputation of everything below the belt (ouch), an operation I couldn't afford with the more expensive figures. Less to repaint after surgery too!

Someday I'll "plant" all those legs in one of my rivers feet up under a bridge. Synchronized diving on a massive scale.

For a more gruesome scene, may I suggest some gators? Wink

Use them in hardtops would look a bit strange in convertibles driving with both hands in their laps LOL!

Jim, the extra legs look good under the side of a stopped car too, as if there's a breakdown.

I would think the ones we are talking about would be fine for inside of a passenger train.
