I have used a number of glues and I like Cool Chem http://www.coolchem.com/

I bought it at the York Train show one year. Haven't seen them back there in a while. I order it on the internet now.

You put some on and it comes with an activator spray. One little spray and it is set instantly which I like. I use it to fix just about anything in the house.

I mainly use it though to build Korber, GrantLine, and Ameri-Towne Buildings. Also, to scratch build things with Plastruct materials. It also works just as well with wood and other materials.

Charles,
I think the new glues and paints available today have made model building much more enjoyable.

I think back to my early model building in the "good old days" of the 50's and 60's and wonder how I ever got decent results.

In the case of adhesives, the biggest advances are the plastic-welding liquids such as Bondene, Tenax, Plastic-weld, etc.

These allow you to actually weld plastics like ABS or styrene instead of relying on the gloppy plastic cements in a tube. This is the type glue that Atlas is recommending for their roundhouse.

The other is the entire line of ACC or super glues. These are a bit pricey, but come in thick, gap-filling varieties for wood or in thin, instant bond varieties for plastics or metal.

Check out the array at the hobby shop. Model building has gotten much easier with these products.

Charles, I had good luck with a product called "Plastruct" plastic solvent cement bought from the local hobby / train shop. It works for ABS plastic. I used it building the Atlas 2 stall engine house, combined with a super glue gel as a second binder in different areas of the structure.

The product is liquid and comes in a glass container with a brush. Cost was around $4. Good luck!
