I'm in San Diego this week at meeting. Yesterday afternoon's program was a little weak so I took a cab to Balboa Park and the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. It's a great museum with multiple layouts including N, HO, 2 and 3 rail O. There are lots of display shelves. I nearly fainted when I saw this...an artifact from John Allen's Gorre & Daphetid...his legendary home layout that was consumed by fire after his death. Enjoy!

Thats very interesting. I didn't know that anything survived except one engine which was not at the house when it burned.

Tim...I thought so, too. I did a double-take when I saw the display. I also took pics of the 2nd Timsaver RR ever built that was also salvaged. I need to adjust the picture sizes and will likely post them over the next week.

I was under the impression that several parts of John Allens layout did survive the fire or were removed after he passed away.
