I am almost embarrassed to write this, but I have a Lionel trestle set, that came without instructions, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to use them. These are for O/O27 use, not Fastrack, and the top of the trestle has two slots in it and there are "H" shaped pieces that press fit into the slots (it looks like)...but how the heck does the track get secured? This might be difficult to describe verbally, but if anyone who knows could take a whack at it, I'd appreciate it.

The screws were a small pan-headed screw(#4???) as I remember. I'm really not sure if all the sets through the years used the same technique.
