The Twin Cities Model Railroad Museum (TCMRM) at Bandana Square in St. Paul, MN will be host to the Circus Moves by Rail Show on October 10 and 11, 2009. Circus modelers from a 10 state area will display their circus modeling skills in several scales. According to Lenny Leier, show manager and member of TCMRM, it will be largest display of miniature circus models in the Twin Cities metro area in 20 years. Admission to this special show will be included in the Museum’s normal admission price of $6 per person, children 5 and under are admitted free of charge.
The show will take place at historic Bandana Square, 1021 Bandana Boulevard East, Saint Paul, Minnesota, the home TCMRM’s O Scale Railroad layout located on the 2nd floor in Suite 222. Bandana Square was constructed in 1885 and once housed a Northern Pacific Railway repair shop. Directions to Bandana Square can be found on the TCMRM web site, www.tcmrm.org.
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of its founding, the TCMRM earlier this year opened a new Toy Train Division in the historic Chimney’s Building just north of Bandana Square. On display are several model railroad layouts in a variety of scales, some providing the opportunity for children to run. These operating layouts feature toy trains and scale railroad models in six different scales. A new amusement park layout, featuring several miniature operating amusement park rides, will be unveiled for the Circus Moves by Rails show.
The Chimney’s Building is also an historic railroad building once serving as the foundry for the Northern Pacific Railroad’s car shops, used to repair and maintain the NP’s fleet of passenger cars.
