The George's Creek Railway is sponsoring a special trip on
the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad featuring recently acquired Western Maryland 25, the first WM GP9 and the first new locomotive delivered to Western Maryland in the classic "speedletter" livery. The locomotive has been returned to its February 1962 appearance when it emerged from the shop in Hagerstown with a chopped short hood. Included are the dual headlights and dual S5T horns. The first trip it makes will be on Thursday August 7th MUed with WMSR GP30 501 on the regularly scheduled Diesel Day train to Frostburg and return. Prevailing WMSR ticket prices are applicable. Saturday morning will feature a solo round trip with several passenger coaches, departing Cumberland at 10:00 AM. Brunch will be available in the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Station in Frostburg. There will be plenty of photo ops as 25 is turned and staged for the return trip, and when 734 arrives with the regular steam train. The price for the Saturday event is $35.00, which includes a T-shirt commemorating the event. Tickets can be ordered by sending a check, with T-shirt size, to; Georges Creek Railway P.O. Box 247 Westernport, Maryland 21562 There are a limited number of shirts. Preference is given to those who purchase the trip package. Any shirts remaining after the event will be sold on a first come, first served basis. There will be a ceremony at the station prior to departure remembering Cumberland native, long time resident, and world renowned railroad photographer William Paschal Price. Chessie |

Sounds like that would be a great trip but I've already planned on a fall trip.
