Atlas O parts has etched metal ones, but there are only 50' roofwalks for boxcars and they are $20 a piece. Pricey.
I'd put your project on hold until next year when Ron S. gets more etched roofwalks in. If enough people call him and push him to get them made, maybe he'll do it quicker. Wooden intermountain ones work for that or you can make your own by scribing styrene, which I also do. I do have some older All-Nation and PSC "Blatch" etched-metal style ones if you're interested. These have the see-through holes and are not just stamped metal. Contact me if interested. This message has been edited. Jim,
If you want real wood, then try any hobby shop selling strip wood. If you want real etched metal, then Des Plaines is the source. If you can use plastic, Rails unlimited offers the Intermountain roof walks in plastic, both wood and steel. http://railsunlimited.ribbonrail.com/index.html Or, try Box Car Jim Watson, 256-435-5014. He has the Old Pullman/Atheran/Menzies/Reynolds car kits. Regards, ChipR |

Are you looking for the wooden ones or the metal ones? The old Athearn/all nation wooden walks were a thin strip of wood scribed to look like three boards, you could probably do better just buy strip wood and making one with three boards. Their old metal ones were a solid strip of metal with the grate pattern stamped on it or maybe cast into it. Some of the later cars came with a brass open mesh roofwalk which looks better than the old solid metal ones. ...dave |

I prefer the brass ones that you see through. I am wanting to do a walk system around a tank car. Solder on some neet handrails and I will have a one-of-a-kind.

Hi Jim, Sounds like DaveJfr0 up above might have what you want? The other place you might ask is the Yahoo groups Proto48 group, those boys do a lot of scratch building so they might know who stocks them...dave |

Try Precision Scale part # 452 - metal see through roof walk.
