It was a last minute decision for me to go and since I didn't know if I was going or not I did not post anything here. For those that like cars this is one heck of a great car show. Almost the entire town is blocked off and there are cars everywhere.
The layout ran good and the club got a lot of positive comments. The open house was very successful. The club made even more money this year than what it did during last year's open house. 2 railer but respectful to 3 railers! Happy Railroading Everyone! Stilll waiting for 1:48 scaled autos.... I didn't. My digital camera stinks. I took only a few minutes of video. I got there late and stuff was happening so fast I just didn't have time to take more video. Many of the club members were there for all or part of the day. Funny, I wonder why Charlie didn't stop by to help out?
If you are familiar with the layout there have been some improvements of late. One of the bridges that was installed had to be re-installed. For some reason one of the spans sagged, the joints between spans were crooked and were causing derailments, and there was no ballast where the layout met the bridge. This bridge works just fine now and we had no derailments all day. Also, John Dunn added some new kind of Lexan to a portion of the layout and it kept some small hands out of the scenery. The Lexan looked great. It is very clear, shiny, and flexible. I've never seen this stuff before. Most kids were well behaved but there was couple who felt compelled to touch stuff. There was some small damage to some of the scenery done by Harry Hieke. There was a scratch on the Lexan too, but it guess that is easier to fix/replace than the scenery. This was such a good car show I might take the entire day off next year to attend. Problem is it is the same weekend as "Chryslers at Carlisle" in PA. They had stuff for the kids to do, a couple of vendors, trophy ceremony, and many, many nice cars. All in all it was the best car show held by a town I have ever been to. 2 railer but respectful to 3 railers! Happy Railroading Everyone! Stilll waiting for 1:48 scaled autos.... Phil Gatto |

You guys will need to sit Harry down and tell him that damaging the scenery will not be tolerated. Butch |
