Harry Heike weather my US Hobbies Pennsy L1s and here it sits on the ready track.

At the Cherry Valley Club, club member Drew ran it with a 60 car train.
I felt pretty good as it walked away with it Smile Until it hit a steep curved grade. It made it 3/4 of the way then stalled Roll Eyes Backed it down into the yard. Backed the train up real nice.

don't feel too bad Charlie, lots of trains have stalled on that helix... even after Thorpe attempted to fix it.

after all, there were 60 cars attached to it!

Charlie,
Nice looking engine!! Does it have its original weight or has more weight been added?
Happy Railroading,

The weight that was installed is for a Pennsy 2-10-0 decapod and about two inches were cut to allow it to fit. In fact it was grooved to pass the wire for the front marker and head light. It is very heavy for its size.

Thorpe told me that, the sub assembled replacement subroadbed was installed on the first Saturday and the laser correction of the grade was scheduled for the next Saturday.
But with a firestorm through the course of the next week over wrapping the basic installation in one day that he totally and permanently withdrew and never addressed the needed grade correction.
I guess some members did not appreciate Tom's generous donated help and he didn't want to get in the middle of the politics.

I guess, no I guarrantee that everyone would have "appreciated Tom's generous donated help" if they had known about it before hand which includes the President and VP at the time.

Charlie, if you or anyone else you know wants to talk this out off-line let me know and I will set something up. This really is not the place to discuss it.

I like Harry's weathering on that locomotive. BTW, real steam engines do not have traction tires. Big Grin

well thank you for the compliment, it is appreciated.
Regarding the helix, I was not sure if you were aware of Tom's input on this.
I meant no harm, believe me. Oops Think everybody agrees it in the past. Smile
