Although there is some touch up and wiring that need to be finished, this is ready to go and I can move on to the next project.

In honor of "Professor Ed".

More pix in the Scenery Ideas and Techniques forum.

Hi Dan,

I love it. I really need to figure out a place for an ice loading facility of that size. Where did you get the lights on the polls? SmileSmile

Next week, I will finish up a smaller one dock kit. The lights: the polls came with the kit. Just wood dowels. I trimmed the tops and drilled a small hole for the wires. The shades came with the kit and I used micro lights that "just" fit. All that is left is the wiring of the lights and the signal.

When ya got to go, you got to go...

Below is a shot I took on one of our tours of the Algoma Central in Sault St Marie outside the round house. That's where the idea came from.

Ya can't make this stiff up Big Grin

Thanks. It's a Suncoast kit with the extra extension. Nothing but stripwood and some cardboard in the box Eek

Excellent job Dan! That looks great and Ed will love the signage. These kits are kind a getting hard to find aren't they?

Nice job there, Dan! I suspect that Ed will appreciate the signage at several levels, Big Grin

Given a set of the plans, (no idea of their detail level or quality of illustrations), could you guesstimate just how it might be to scratch it together since these kits really were a box of sticks and some cardboard?

BTW, Valley Model Trains still lists this kit for $116.98, Wink

Yes, Suncoast are still being made.

With the plans and parts list, very easy, well not easy, it's a pain to build each support. Mine also includes the extra extension. I suspect the kit would be much less if he did not cut most of the wood and color code everything.

email me if you want more info.

Thanks, Dan!

Maybe a picture w/o the train cars???

Sound like a job for a NWSL Chopper and a few construction jigs...and just a little patience, Big Grin

I have seen a lot of icing stations on both O and ho layouts, and this is the best I have seen. Tough to tell at first glance that it is model. Nice detailing touches and very well done.

Thank you Smile

It's a great "old school" kit.

Thanks, Dan! Thanks

That really exposes the amount of work that goes into the assembly of such kits!

Now next time you're going to do all of the lap joints all mortised in place, right? Big Grin And put all of the nbw castings and tie rods in place? Big Grin

This is fun stuff to build! Great job!

Dan,

Does the kit come with the lights and lampshades or did you add that feature? I'm sure it didn't include the signal at the end of the platform? Looks even nicer with the cars removed.

Butch:

Shades yes, but I added the lights. The signal is a Kiel product. I blacked out the bottom lens to simulate a cover and used a blue LED for the top.
