So if I go into train operations, am I correct there are not electric couplers in 2Rail? Do you use solid magnets, the electric magnets, or a coffee stirrers? Inquiring minds want to know!

Jim,
There are scale couplers in 2-rail, however not always reliable they are controlled by tmcc. They are produced by ATLASO and Train america studios. In a thread on this forum about a year or so ago thier was a modifacation that a poster did to help the coupler latch better by removing some material from the coupler jaw. I tried it on one set and it seemed to help. I am currently trying to make the couplers work using a relay and a DCC decoder but this is still experamental at this point. Also CSX AL had a post the other day about some scale electric couplers, that may also be an option. Hope this helps Bruce |

My first intentions were to make my new 2Rail line simple "bare bones DC"....But I have seen the new ATLAS catalog and a couple of those GOLD engines are talking to me.

Use KD couplers. They work very reliably , uncouple with a screw driver or pointy stick, nothing to purchase, install, or maintain. |
