I am working on a model of the UP 3985 articulated. It appears to have a metal plaque on the front end that is a UP shield with the locomotive number on it.

Microscale furnishes something like it in their decal set but I really think my brass engine needs more than that to look right. Any suggestions?

Any idea of sources for a detailed metal plaque?

Your thoughts are appreciated!

Thanks, Yard Bull

Well, maybe not.

1. Buy the Lionel or MTH Challenger and remove the front shield.
2. Contact Lionel or MTH and see if that part is available due to damage to your's. (White Lie?)

Yard Bull;

You need Precision Scale Co part # SH-40234.

Allen E:

Thanks for the very specific lead. Any suggestions on where to buy? It doesn't look like they sell directly to the public, or am I mistaken?

Thanks, Yard Bull

PS: Tom, interesting ideas, but I'm too cheap to buy and I don't want to tell tales...

Yard Bull;

Although I order through a local hobby store, I believe that you can order direct. Minimum order is $20 plus $5 shipping. Check www.precisionscaleco.com
or write to 2383 Meridian Road, Victor MT 59875.

Many thanks! I'll contact them. I'm sure I'll find lots of things to buy, should not be a problem meeting the minimum. YB

I tried to buy one of these thru Caboose Hobbies in Denver and they report that they are no longer available. I post this to save others a wild goose chase.

Still interested in other ideas or suggestions!

Thanks, YB

Yard Bull:

I have an old Kemtron one in the packet I just came across while looking for something else in my musty dusty stores. Bare brass casting, raised edges, raised "Union Pacific", you paint it and number it.

If that's what you're looking for, ping me off list.

I went direct to Precision Scale and they furnished two pieces out of existing inventory, within a few days of my order. Just what I needed, thanks for the part number, Allen E!

I appreciate the fine help from all the forum folks.
