I bought an American Flyer whistling billboard but it does not include the controller or instructions.
How do I get this billboard to operate? Is the operating button that originally came with this accesory necessary in order to get it operating (in which case I can buy one seperately), or is there some other switch or button I could substitute? How do I hook up the wires for operation? Any help would be appreciated. |

To add to Carl's excellent choice of a page from the AF operating manual:
You can use any on/off push-button switch you may have lying around. (You could also use a toggle or slide switch, but I doubt you'd want to.) If you have a track trip, you can wire the whistle to it and have the train blow the whistle when it gets to a certain point on the track. Lionel operators can do the same thing with a contactor or insulated track section(s). Tony 55 years of armchair railroading...and counting |

Thanks for your help--using the diagram that Carl provided, and using a push button switch as Lightning Stripes advised, I should be able to get this whistle billboard wired up and working.
I do have a push button switch lying around, so I won't have to go out and buy a controller after all. |
