I'm pretty sure the S-Track has the highest profile of the custom track available. If I remember from seeing it at S-Fest, the S-track was something like code 172 while the similar-looking American Models is code 148. The rail on S-Helper is even smaller at code 131. The 131 is about the smallest you could go if you're running regular American Flyer wheels. The 148 is a nice compromise size as it looks great and is fairly trouble-free. I'm not sure what I'll end up using if I ever build a serious layout and put my AF sectional stuff back in the boxes.

What turns me off is, and what I want to know is why, S-Track and American Models tracks are made with that brass colored rail? I really don't like that and it has kept me from using either. I mean, if you came to S gauge to get rid of the 3rd rail of O gauge why would you then want brass rail? I like both products except for the color. I don't mind the sides as they can be painted but the running surface needs to be silver. What is wrong with silver colored nickle-silver rail like HO and O gauge uses?
I have an American Models switch and a few pieces of their sectional track so I know it is definitely very brassy colored. I don't have any of the S-Track but in the on-line photos it appears to be the same brassy rail color. I just don't understand why these two companies would shoot themselves and their track systems in the foot that way?
