To the best of my knowledge he took the layout down and sold his collection. All this took place some years ago.Don't know the reason. It was a fantastic layout, and pure Flyer.

That was a great layout. Another one still in operation is Bob Boards All Aboard Flyer Layout in Lancaster PA. I beleive its 24x48 feet and was featured in the "other magazine" He is also the producer of Super Smoke.

His layout can be see at www.bartspneumatics.com

This is one of my all time favorite toy train layouts!

Thanks for the update. Sad news that it's gone but all things end.

One can visit (or revisit) this fine layout via the TM Books DVD "Fun and Thrills with American Flyer" which combines the material from the original two VCR tapes.

It is true that Mike sold his collection off and dismantled the layout. I purchased a few things from him a few years ago. I had the great pleasure of visiting him back in the 80's and he let us run the trains!! What an awesome layout it was.

One thing I particularly enjoyed was the pure Gilbert philosophy it was completed with. There was several operating "Loops". I remember one of them was a fully automated single track main with passing track turnouts for multiple trains. Of course it was all done with original Gilbert track trips and signals.

Sometime back in the early eighties when I was selling my American Flyer collection, Mr. Kolosseus purchased my Track Gang Set.
