I have seen several of these...is the fit and finish spotty on all? Scratches, rough paint, not wrapped in anything before packing???

Does anyone own one and care to comment. Thanks!

I have two of them. Paint and finish on both is perfect. The only issues I have that I think are common to all of them are one missing hose and the tool box is yellow instead of red.

Very fun accessory and definately a lot cheaper than an original.

I had to return several because the pont where the clear plastic form pressed down on the track gang platform for shipping left a mark. And there were fine scratches in the paint.

Did Lionel use any original tooling on this?

I would highly doubt it. The original tooling was probably long gone by the time Lionel bought American Flyer.

My dealer sent mine back to Lionel, and it was replaced with one that had BOTH hoses, NO scratches and perfect except for that YELLOW toolbox! Big Grin

I spent all of 10 minutes fitting the needed "hoses" on what is otherwise a nice sample and saved the much greater time and trouble of shipping back.Smile

Bob:

One of the "jack hammers" was also broken on my first one. Frown I actually returned it to my dealer for a credit. He later called when they received the replacement and asked me if I still wanted it.

Would the RED toolbox be available from a parts dealer? Confused

A friendly suggestion: why not just paint the tool box red? It would be a pretty quick and easy job.
